Continuing on with the exploration stopped in at the local tackle store, JB Lures, Nowra Street, Huskisson. This is just up the road from the co-op and the owner and his son were busy making lures for the local marlin fishers. Check out their website at http://www.jbmarlinlures.com . They were great to talk to, and as usual a fountain of information. Both suggested, for a land based angler like myself, the go to place was Currambene Creek, which ran out into Jervis Bay near the Huskisson Pub.
Went for the short drive and checked out the creek. A great looking bit of water, with deep channels near the banks and fantastic flats. Now used for a lot of moorings, but still plenty of places for a land based angler. On the south bank of the creek had a few throws with a Bloodworm Grubz and an Atomic Plazo. Both got smashed big time by some fantastic bream. Shame I didn’t have a net with me and managed to lose two big fish which were up around the mid 40cm. Got several smaller ones and two flathead. Very easy fishing and great location. Water was clear as and recommend this spot for families. Had all the facilities there and an amazing ramp.
